Privacy policy
Flaplet is a hiring app where job seekers and employers meet through 60-second videos. This page explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it.
Who we are. Flaplet is run by The Srooli Group, New York, USA. Questions about privacy or your data: srulibruck@gmail.com.
What we collect
Your account
- Your name and email from Google (or Apple) when you sign in. You can browse and record without an account; we then use an anonymous ID.
- Whether you are here to find a job or to hire, and, for employers, the company name, kind of business and the "About" text you add.
Your videos and what's in them
- The videos you publish, a still picture from each, and a smaller copy for smooth playback.
- What our AI hears and sees in them: a written transcript, timed captions, a job title, skills, pay (only if you say it), a kind of work, and an energy score. You can correct or remove these in the app.
When you record in Flaplet, each take is uploaded to our servers, including ones you don't publish. Unpublished takes are private, never shown to anyone, and deleted after 90 days.
We keep a small record of each take (its length, when it was made, and whether it was published) without the video itself, so we can improve the recording screens.
Where you are
- Your location from the phone (only if you allow it) or the city or ZIP code you type. We keep the exact position private. Others see only your city and a rough distance ("3 mi away"), worked out from a location rounded to about 1 km.
- If you're looking for work, the place where you want to work, if you set one ("Where are you looking?", a city or ZIP and a distance). Employers see that city on your profile; it's used for distances, the fit score and the daily "New jobs near you".
- We only check your location when you open the app. We never track it in the background.
What you do in the app
- Who you connect with, matches, messages, proposed and booked call times, and the answer you give after a call ("I'm interested", "Not a fit").
- That a video was watched for more than 3 seconds, and by which account (used for view counts and, for employers on Pro, views by day).
- How you watch the Feed: for each video, how long you watched it, whether you paused, replayed or swiped past it early. Once a day we turn this into a private summary of the kinds of work and skills you watch most, used only to order your own Feed. It's never shown to anyone, and it never uses age, gender or anything like it (we don't collect those).
- Videos you hide, people you block, and reports you send.
Your phone
- A push token so we can send notifications, and your notification choices.
- Your device and app details: phone or tablet, brand and model, Android version, the app's version, language and region, screen size, whether the app came from Google Play, and when you first and last opened it. Used for support and to know which phones to test on. We don't collect your phone's serial number, IMEI, advertising ID or IP address.
- Crash reports from release versions of the app (what went wrong and on which screen, tagged with your account ID, not your name or email).
- How the app is used: which screens are opened and key steps such as finishing sign-up, recording or publishing a video, connecting, matching, sending a message, and booking or holding a call (that it happened, never its content). Counted with Google Analytics for Firebase to see where people get stuck. It's tied to a random app ID, not to your name or email, and doesn't use your advertising ID.
We don't collect your contacts, photos (other than the videos you record in Flaplet) or anything from other apps. Video calls are not recorded.
Who can see what
| Others in Flaplet see | Kept private |
|---|---|
| Your published video, your first name (job seekers) or company name (employers), your city, a rough distance, and the job title and skills from your video. | Your full name, email, exact location, unpublished takes, push token, device details, what you watch, who you hid or blocked, and reports you sent. |
Messages and call details are only seen by the two people in the match. People you block don't see you, and you don't see them; they aren't told. People you report aren't told who reported them.
If you turn off Open to work, your intro leaves the Feed. Employers you already matched with can still message you.
Sharing. You can share a live video with a link (for example flaplet.com/v/…) to any app. Anyone with the link can watch that video on a web page that shows only what others in Flaplet see: the video, a first name or company name, the job title and the city. Other people can share your live videos too, unless you turn off Let others share my videos in Settings. A link stops playing as soon as the video is taken down, archived or hidden. We count how many times a link was shared, opened and tapped, with the app and phone type it was shared from; the page sets one cookie with a random number so a person opening the same link twice is counted once. We don't record who opened a link.
How we use it
- To run the app: show videos in the Feed, work out the fit between a job and a person, match people, deliver messages and calls (an incoming call can ring full screen, also on your lock screen), and send the notifications you've left on.
- To personalize your Feed: put the kinds of jobs or people you watch most a little higher, from your own watching only.
- To keep people safe: check videos for explicit content, review reports, and pause accounts that break the terms.
- To fix problems and improve the app, using crash reports and counts of how features are used.
The fit score and skills are made by AI. They are a guide, not a verdict, and no one is hired or turned down by Flaplet automatically. We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
Services we use
These companies process data for us, only to provide their service:
- Google Firebase and Google Cloud: sign-in, database, file storage, web hosting and the server code that runs the app.
- OpenAI: turns the speech in your videos into text and reads it for job title, skills and pay; checks still frames for explicit content.
- Daily.co: carries video calls between two people. Calls are not recorded.
- Expo: delivers push notifications to your phone.
- Sentry: receives crash reports from release versions of the app.
- Google Analytics for Firebase: counts how the app is used (screens and key steps), without names, emails or message content.
Your data is stored in the United States.
How long we keep it
- Your account, published videos and their AI details: until you delete them or your account. A video you replace or take down is kept with your account, out of sight, until you delete your account.
- Unpublished takes: deleted after 90 days.
- What you watched: the per-video records are used for 30 days; the summary is replaced every night. Both are deleted with your account.
- Matches and messages: until the match is deleted or either person deletes their account. A match that closes stays readable only to its two people.
- Reports about an account are kept for safety, even after that account is deleted.
- App usage counts (Google Analytics): kept by Google for up to 14 months, then deleted.
Your choices
- Change what notifications you get in Settings → Notifications.
- Edit your details, fix what the AI heard, turn off Open to work, or take a job down in your profile.
- Block or report anyone from their video, profile or chat.
- Ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it: email us.
Deleting your account
In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account. Or on the web: vidhire-1e1c3.web.app/delete-account. We delete your videos and every take, what the AI heard, your matches and messages, your blocks and the reports you sent, what you watched, your device details, your profile, and your sign-in. It can't be undone.
Age
Flaplet is for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger; if you believe someone under 18 is using Flaplet, tell us and we'll delete the account.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and stored with Google Cloud. Access is limited to what each part of the app needs, and to us for support and safety reviews. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't share bank details or ID numbers in chats.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is important.
